10 March (Reuters) The New York attorney general classified the cryptocurrency token Ether as security on Friday, grouping it with assets like stocks and bonds and raising concerns about a broader regulatory crackdown. Letitia James, the attorney general of New York, is suing KuCoin for failing to register with the state before allowing cryptocurrency transactions on its platform, and on Thursday she referred to Ether as a security. One of the most popular cryptocurrency platforms in the US is KuCoin.
